So today started off good.....well....i'll start with last night first...
Kenzie sleeps relatively well throughout most nights....she sleeps anywhere from 2-4 hrs at a time but in between i just have to wake up and feed/change her and then she goes back down. I have to get up once or twice to pump and then all is good. Buuuut the problem is getting her down in the first place. She likes to take LONG naps around 5-6pm for 2-3 hrs and then doesn't want to go back to sleep unil 1 or 2am. Last night i started trying to put her down at 9pm and was up until 1:30 with her....then again at 2:30....then i got to sleep until 5...and then again until about 8:30. SO that was 'fun.'
Anyway...this morning Joel's friend stopped by to say hi and meet Kenzie so that was nice...then i went to run out to McDonalds for some b-fast. When i got back i opened the door, and i guess that started the chain reaction. The dogs jumped up and got excited to see who was at the door, which scared the cat, who was already looking over Kenzie in the playen....the cat jumped and when he did he laid a nail into the side of Kenzie's head. The only thing that i heard/saw was Joel jumping up to Kenzie crying and him saying 'OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!!!' So i drop everything and go running to the playpen thinking Kenzie has stopped breathing or is spewing blood or something, only to see that instead she has a pretty good sized gash in the side of her head. It didn't end up being deep or anything but since it was a head wound it bled for a little while. We cleaned it out and it clotted up and she was just fine afterward. She's eating and doing great so i know that she is ok, but i still feel like my heart hasn't re-gained it's regular heartbeat. Seeing Joel freaking out like that was the single scariest moment of my life. I feel like a horrible mommy, but i know that accidents happen and she will get bumps and bruises all of her life long. We're still not sure what we're going to do with the cat....i want to hand him over to Joel's mom for a few months until Kenzie gets a little bigger, but Joel wants to try working with him to train him to know where is 'off limits.' I'm paranoid enough as is though without worrying about the cat jumping on her head because he doesn't know that she's there or something. Ugg....i dunno...i just dunno. Anyways....i've been crying on and off all day long because i hate that she got hurt, plus i'm exhausted, plus i'm still emotional anyways. I grabbed a little nap with my girl on the couch a little bit ago and that was nice though. I love snuggling up with her and sleeping side by side.
Hopefully tonight goes better than last night....i think i'll go and wake her up now so that she sleeps later on!!

I'm so sorry! These things are going to happen and you are not a horrible parent. She sounds just fine and babies/kids are pretty resilient. I know it can probably be hard with the animals, but I hope that you can work with the cat because it would not be fair for kitty to have to leave. Hopefully it just won't happen again. I have such a passion for babies/kids and animals so it hurts to hear stuff like that. Any way, take care of you. if you need to talk, I'm always here. Love you sweetheart~
i don't 'want' to get rid of our cat and i would never just drop him somewhere, that's why we asked Joel's mom originally because we would never want to 'get rid' of him, but if it's between keeping him in our house and having our daughter hurt by him then the choice is obvious. But Joel's mom is making some netting to put over her bed so all will be good now. :)
Yah, I know it can be rough with animals and a new little one. That's why I asked how the pups were doing with her. I am nervous about Allie. I forgot you had a cat. So many people give their animals to the Humane Society because of new babies. It's so sad. I am so glad all is going to work out and you got the netting from grandma! YAY!
