I know I've only been back to work for 2 days but it has felt like an eternity!!!! I woke up around 7:30 and got ready for my JOB INTERVIEW at the bank....it went AWESOME!! She seems to really like me and said i'd be getting a call for a second interview soon. HURRAY!! Then we went off to Sears for Kenzie's pics to be made...went really well and Joel's mom bought us a big package of pics to split up. Then we ate lunch at Olive Garden..yummo! Then off to Kenzie's 6 week appt. She has gained 3 lbs since birth so she's doing GREAT! She is now 10lbs 7oz and 22'' long. My baby girl is growing up! Then she had to get her HepB shot and she screamed and cried after it so i felt just AWFUL! there is nothing worse than having to put your kid into a painful situation, neccessary as it may be. Anyways...then for my checkup..back onto BC pills....:::yay:::...NOT!!
Anywho...here are some of the pics that we got done today at Sears!
(and you can see her eyes this time Hettie!)

Back to work :(
So today is the last day of my maternity leave and it makes me so very very sad. A) it means that i won't be seeing Kenzie near as much every day, and B) it means that she is 6 weeks old!! madnesses. She has already started to grow out of her 'newborn' clothes and get into her 0-3 mos and some small 3-6 month stuff. She is cooing more and more every day and has started to smile sometimes which is just adorable. She is a much happier baby in general as of this weekend because we ended up switching her to a soy based formula. Apparently her little tummy can't handle lactose yet so we've given up on it for a little while. Her gas was HORRIBLE and every time she ate she screamed in pain afterward and made the whole house miserable and crazy for hours at a time. So we called the pediatrician and now she is on soy and it is sooooo much better. This morning she was awake for a good 2 hours and just as happy and content as could be...it was great. She LOVES bath time and we have a blast with that. Her hair is lightening up and has more and more red in it all the time. She is just getting so big!! Her check up is on Weds. to see how she is doing and get some shots so we'll see how big she truly is.
As for Joel and I...our sanity is slowly returning. The less she screams the happier we are and more sane. We spent yesterday at home cooking from our Martha Stewart magazine, LOL. Joel's mom came over so we took the time to try 2 new recipes....a chicken and alfredo pasta dish...awesome BTW, and a berry and dumplings dessert...also AWESOME.
SO i go back to work tomorrow anyways...and i'm sad about it but i am still applying and keeping my eye out for a part-time, or closer to home job. I have a few good resumes in right now and i'm really hoping for a call back soon...pray i get something!
Well today i hope to spend cuddling and snuggling with the baby girl to get in all the time i can before going back to work. Hopefully today continues to be a great day!
This is me about to fuss because i want to be held!!!!

L'Mac
This post will be all about my little L'Mac.
I wanted to get some 'bragging' and 'emotional feelings' in here before i go back to work and don't get to see her as much.
Mackenzie will be 5 weeks old tomorrow, but it feels like she was only born yesterday. The time seems to pass so slowly at times, but then i'll look at her laying in her playpen or carseat and just be amazed at how BIG she is! She hasn't really started to smile or anything yet but we work on her tummy time and eye coordination most every day. She is getting pretty good at supporting her own head for a good amount of time which is helpful :). She also makes tons of funny faces, though i know that none are really 'intentional' yet. Most of the faces are 'poop faces' that are reserved only for making poops or passing gas. She oddly looks most like Joel when she does these faces, LOL. Whenever Joel and I talk about her we make those faces to each other because they are just so cute. hehe. I'll have to capture one of them one day and post about it.
She has miraculously kept most of her hair, although some is coming out in the front by her temple. Mostly it is just getting much lighter, and thankfully has mom's tinge of red in it. FINALLY something from ME! It's hard to see much of me in her at all (outside of her attitude). Her feet are absolutely enormous as you can see in her pics so it makes it hard...no...impossible to keep anyy socks or shoes on her. The newborn sized socks are too short so they fall off, and the next size up is too wide and she has super narrow feet so they slide right off. I bought a pair of newborn shoes hoping that they would work, but no suck luck. Oh well...they were only $3 and they are ADORABLE to look at.
As for her schedule...she's being a little difficult in that field. She still only sleeps for about 3 hrs at a time on a good night...but she is up to eating 4-5oz. at a time which is CRAZY! She is also really gassy so she has to have gas drops before every meal and be burped frequently. We just discovered a new bottle this weekend though that has a different nipple that seems to work MUCH better for her so we're hoping that helps us out.
Well...i go back to work in another 1-2 weeks. Technically i should go back on 2/23, but i'm going to take some of that week off if not all of it. Not sure how to work that out yet though. We went and met up with the babysitter this past friday and we absolutely LOVE her. She watches her great-grandson also and absolutely loves kids. She works with kids in the neighborhood too and does easter egg hunts and stuff. She basically wants to watch kids because she likes to help ensure that they grow up to be good human beings...she doesn't do it for the income. In fact she mentioned that she usually just ends up spending the babysitting income on gifts and activities for the kids anyways. So we're psyched about that.
Well....i should go and feed the little one. Joel is trying to sleep and she is being a squirmy-worm hehe. Typical Kenzie!

Well today has been a long day. Ms. Kenzie has started to take short 'power naps' and eat one or two ounces every time she wakes up only to go back to sleep, and then wake up and want more to eat. I am having to force her to stay awake because i really don't enjoy this game of 'snacking' and power napping. Last night we were up about evey hour to 'snack' and that won't work for mommy.
I did find time today however to apply for a job at a local bank so here's hoping that something comes from that. I am open to either a full time or part time job since if i work part time i can see Kenzie more, or if i do still work full time...it would be local and i wouldn't be driving so far each day = 2 extra hours at home.
I also called the potential babysitter for Kenzie if i don't find a different job and her rate is AWESOME so thank GOD for that. She is an older woman who loves kids and watches her grandson right now at home so she can take another baby. We talked for a few mins on the phone and she seems to be right on par with our feelings on raising children. You can spoil a cild all you want, but not to the point that they become a brat. You can love and spend time with them all day but they also need to know the rules and boundaries. We are going to go to her place on Friday and meet her officially and ask questions and such. I really hope i can find a better job close by but if i do have to go back to work in 2 weeks i will still keep looking for something better. Luckily i don't really have to worry about benefits since we get those through Joel's job so all i have to worry about is pay and proximity. Plus i can take a small pay cut as long as i don't have to drive as far anymore.
Anywho....I'm sleepy...:::yawn:::
I was sad last night because the Obama speech came on when HOUSE should have been on so Mr. Obama made me miss my show for his stupid 'spend money to save money' talk. But i did get to see The Bachelor so i guess it was ok. I hate that i watch that show but oh well...i admit it...i LOVE it! I watched it last season and i am again this season. I also have a new joy...since i'm usually awake at 2am anyways...they run Jay Leno re-runs at that hour and i LOVE watching those. It almost makes waking up at that time enjoyable :) Not that seeing my baby girl isn't great enough but at 2am i think i'd rather see a little more of my eyelids than hers. hehe
I went to Old Navy yesterday and got the CUTEST outfit for Kenzie and she has been wearing it all day today and i just love it. I really do enjoy dressing her up. Well I'm gonna go and scarf down some dinner before the little one stirs. I'm out!!

Tummy Time!

4 weeks?!
It has been 4 weeks since Kenzie got here!? That's nearly one full month! Ahh!
Anyways...Kenzie is napping now so i'm grabbing my moment to blog. There isn't really anything new to blog about though so i guess i'll just blabber on and on.
This past weekend started out with going to Joel's VA appt on Friday. They finally gave him some better meds for his back so he can get some relief so that's good. Thank GOD! I honestly can't remember what else we did all day....oh yeah! we went and did a little shopping and then Joel's mom/aunts came over and we went out for dinner at Logans. Kenzie through her first 'fit' while we were out so that was stressful. She is always so good when we're out and sleeps right through anything but not this time. I also had my first 'forgetful mom' moment when i went and forgot the whole diaper bag at home with a hungry and dirty baby. Joel had to drive the 30 mins home to go and get it for me. Better to spend the gas money than drop $40 on stuff while out and about. Needless to say i now have an emergency diaper bag stashed in my car with the essentials. :)
Saturday we relaxed early and then remembered that our friends were coming over on Sunday after church so we cleaned most the afternoon. And then on Sunday they came over and we all just hung out.
I can't believe that i have to go back to work in two weeks. It seems unreal! I am still looking for a part time job so that i can spend more time with Kenzie at home but i don't know how well it's going to work out what with the economy and all.
Well i hear little grunts coming from the playpen so i am being hailed for bottle time :)
And i get to dress her up in a new outfit...yay for little baby/barbie time! it's so much fun to dress babies up! have i mentioned how much i love shopping for her and dressing her up? it's no longer about me looking good/cute...it's all about her. hehe anyways...really...i should go.

A BREAK!
So Kenzie has had a rough day today with gas and eating TONS so i'm psyched to catch a break for a moment to do what i want to do.
Not too much new going on with us. We have been hit with the ice storm up here but we haven't lost power or anything. Most of the ice is melted by now, but what didn't...re-froze and is now like trying to walk on a skating rink. EVERYWHERE is slippery as crap! But now this morning we just got another 3 inches or so of snow so that will cover the ice somewhat. It's crazy how much snow/ice we've gotten in the past week! Schools were closed most all last week and might close again tomorrow because of all of this snow!
As for us....i took Kenzie into work yesterday and showed her off plus had lunch at yummy PF Changs with my co-workers so that was fun. Went to TJ Maxx afterwards and got a pair of pants but Kenzie wasn't feeling the shopping trip and decided to start screaming so that was cut a little short.
We are going to be ordering our birth announcements this week from the photo session of Kenzie now that we have all of the proofs so i'm excited to get those out.
Well Kenzie is waking up again so back to the mommy status....LOL...lata
