A beautiful, and sad Derby weekend...

So this weekend was THE BIG DERBY WEEKEND. The big build up to the race finally concluded with the 2 minute horse race. We had a little office pool where everyone picked a horse name out of a cup and we could win the $1 pot from everyone's entry. Well i picked 8 Belles, which is on eof the first few fillies to ever race the Derby. She had pretty good odds and i was pullin' for her. She ended up running a great race and pulling in second out of 20...but after the race was over she fell to the ground. 2 Horse ambulances came up and surrounded her and it ended up being bad...really bad. She broke both of her front ankles and had to be put down immediately. I was really upset. I never had any real disputes with horse racing because horses naturally love to run and all, and they are treated well. Well after seeing that, i'm pretty much against it now. I can't believe that after running for only 2 minutes, the poor girl had to go out in all of her glory with 2 broken ankles. So that's depressing....but moving on....

Joel and I had a good weekend. We spent Saturday morning going to see Ben Stein's new documentary 'Expelled.' It's a conservative documentary based on the debate between evolution and Intelligent Design being taught in schools. It was really well done and an awesome movie/documentary. You should all see it. :)

Then today we got some new furniture given to us by some friends of the family and cleaned house all day. But that was about it!

Well it's time for animation domination on tv so i'm out!

Happy Hump Day!

No not like that! It's Wednesday! 1/2 way there!
So today was a good-ish day. I only had a 1/2 day at work which was great. I took the 1/2 day off because i needed to go and try on dresses for my friend's wedding in October and i didn't want to be out late if i went after work. So I went and tried on some dresses and found one i like, but they only carry size 10 in store, so i don't know exactly how the proper size (6) will fit me. Frustrating, but i guess that's why God made alterations.
So then i had plenty of time leftover to go and finally get my eye exam and some new glasses. Joel and i use his job's insurance for our health/dental/vision, plus i doubled up on mine through my work for vision and dental because those coverages always seem to fall short of actual costs. So....to make a super long story short...I am covered double through one vision insurance provider. I called them and asked if this caused any problems, to see how the coverage would work since i'm covered 2x by one company. They told me that i could either get 2 pairs of glasses, one from each plan, and pay both co-pays, or i can, if i so choose, use my 2 coverages together like primary insurace and then secondary. Well i ended up deciding to get sunglasses since my regular glasses are still ok and i need sunglasses when driving (legally LOL). So i pick out a cute pair of COACH sunglasses that are only about $10 over my frames allowance. Then adding the 'black' coating on the basic lens made the total out of pocket to be nearly $100. I told them that i wanted to go ahead and use my husband's coverage first because it has higher allowances, so they pull up his coverage and tell me that i'm not on there. I was like, uhh yeah i am, i pay for it. So i called my provider, they said uh yeah...you're on there i can fax over your coverage. So they did. I then said to use my secondary insurance to cover those extra costs, and the lady told me that they couldn't do that. I told her that i called my provider and they said it was fine. She shook her head at me and was like no ma'am insurance doesn't work that way, that's not possible. Well i know full well that it does, that's why secondary insurance exists. So i asked her to call my provider and she said, ma'am i do the billing for your provider and i've never heard of them allowing that, you can't do it. So i said fine, i'm out. So they lost my business. I called my provider for a 3rd time after leaving and they again confirmed, that i could combine my insurances. So i was pissed.
Anyways......that place was rude and i didn't like them. So now i have to drive around to another place 30 mins away from my house some other time to get glasses. Oh well...at least i have a Rx now. I'm still blind. 20/30 in my L eye and 20/100 in the right. Dang.
So now that i've updated you on my insurance plight...LOL...on to other things...Lilly is in heat now for the 1st time, so i get to play happy hump patrol with Rupert. We never knew how old Lilly was so i wanted to wait until her first heat to fix her. So now here we sit, they can't play together or go outside together, and Rupert is very upset over the whole thing. Rupert's new name this week is rapist because he tries to rape my poor innocent Lilly every chance he gets. But we are being very religiously careful about watching them so that nothing happens. I don't want Boston Shelab puppies. LOL So that's my update on my life. Nothing new and exciting. This weekend is the Derby so there are all kinds of parties and events going on in town, but Joel and i didn't have a grand each for tickets, so we opted out of going. Madness i know. LOL
Ok, so now i really am done. Man this was a long post! Sorry!

Weekend O' Fun!

Well this week proved to be a pretty good week. Joel had a good work week and was able to come home early on Weds. so we could see each other for a little while. Friday afternoon when i got off of work i met up with Joel and his mom for dinner. She bought some new flooring and a washer and dryer and needed Joel's truck for hauling. So we helped her out and ate dinner. Then we came home for a few hours and went to a local bar down the street to have a few drinks and hang out. That was fun and the 'drunken becca at the taco bell drive thru' was fun. LOL (Joel was driving...not me)

So then today we got up and went to breakfast together at our local mom & pop restaurant which was delicious as always. Went and got the usual groceries and then come home. The weather was absolutely gorgeous today, which was a nice surprise since we thought it was going to rain all weekend. But no..it was sunny not a cloud in the sky breezy and about 75 today. We sat on the back porch for a good hour or two until our friends called us and wanted to hang out. So we went down to the Louisville side of the waterfront and hung out at the Derby Festival activity area. Vendors and food and live music...that was good times. Then we went to have dinner at a steakhouse but the service sucked terrible so we ended up getting comp'ed all but like $9. It always seems to happen to us when we eat dinner with those friends. I think next time we'll stick with fast food. LOL

So now we are home and heading back out to a little party at someone's house. Don't plan to be gone too long because we're both tired, but it should be fun to hang out around a bon fire for a little while.

Well...we're out....i'll check back in tomorrow and hopefully start writing every day again! sorry...i suck.

Long time no type....

So i'm getting bad about blogging...it's hard to keep up with this thing everyday!
Today was a pretty good day, Thursday...only one more day to Friday and the weekend, and my supervisor was out today so that's always good. It's better when we don't have our super lingering over us watching our every move.
This weekend marks try #7 at the babies but yet again...it's a bust. :( I don't think Joel minds, but i'm starting to get really frustrated. Doc told me that like 90% of people our age get pregnant in the first year...what if we aren't that 90%? What if something is wrong...what will we do then? ugh....i don't know but we have another 5 months before we really start worrying about it i guess. :(
This weekend Joel and I are going to have a 'date weekend,' which is very exciting. We have been together for a lot of time in the past few weekends, but we haven't had any alone time for just us...so we're going to do dinner on Friday night, and then spend Saturday doing whatever we feel like. I hope to reserve the 'errands' for Sunday, like groceries etc...that way we can just relax on Saturday and not worry about anything. Hopefully, since it will be raining and yucky out, we can just go to the mall and spend that day window shopping and just enjoying each other's presence. We enjoy spending time together in the house, but 1/2 the time i'm on the couch and joel is on the computer and we don't really talk...so we decided to get out this weekend and hopefully we'll enjoy the day a bit more. I wish it were going to be nice this weekend, it's been BEAUTIFUL all week, but of course...law states that all week while i'm at work it will be awesome, and when the weekend comes it will be gross.
Well Spring has arrived and tomorrow, if the weather permits, Joel will mow our lawn for the first time. OUR lawn...yay! He's not happy about it at all, but it shouldn't be too bad...i hope. :/
Well that's the weekend update....until next time...

Thunder Weekend

Well this weekend we went to our Thunder Over Louisville event. It was an absolute blast! We went to our friend's house early around 10am....ended up going over to the park around 1pm. It was really really cxold this weekend. 50 degrees isn't normally that bad but with strong winds blowing all day, it felt way colder. SO we bundled up in layers and coats and blankets and sat around watching the air shows most of the day. There were tons of really cool planes and of course Joel and his buddy could name every type, LOL. We ate corn dogs and funnel cakes and random 'fair' foods throughtout the day. Then we went over across the overpass to the other 'town' that allows drinking and had a few beers. Then came the fireworks show. It was really really cool. They had connected through NASA to the ISS astronauts and they counted down the show. Sooo cool. Then the show lasted about 30 mins or so with fireworks and pyro technics and stuff. It was really really awesome, that's all that cxan describe it, just cool. We ended up going back to our friend's house and munching down some whitecastles before going home around 2am. So after a long day we slept in today and missed church, we're bad, i know. But it was great times and a definite staple for the years to come. =)

'Ode to Coffee

So i have never enjoyed coffee, my whole life. Always loved the smell, loved the ambiance of coffee houses, just never drank the coffee. Well when i got my job here in Louisville, I discovered a Starbucks less than 1 mile from my office, that i have to pass to get to work. During the interviewing process if i got there early, i would stop by and grab a beverage. I decided to try the frappaccino, thinking that a cool drink sounded good on a 100 degree hot day. I ordered a grande caramel Frap. and paid the man for my beverage, then on my way i went. It is at this point that my world was turned upside-down. Each sip was like a little piece of liquid heaven. Little did i know that that purchase would throw me into a coffee and Starbucks obsession. After getting the job, i continued to go to Starbucks on a regular basis. This got out of hand and i began to go nearly every day, happily paying the $4.24 for my frappaccino. After probably throwing us into debt over my new frap. obsession i decided it was time to start cutting back. So nowadays i usually go there on Friday and Monday, sometimes just one or the other. I have now developed a new love...the McD's Vanilla iced coffee. These are much more cost effective, and while not as delicious, they do calm the craving quite nicely. So now here i sit, sucking down the addiction. This is really the worst kind of addiction for me right now too. It's like smoking. Here i am, we're trying to get pregnant, and i'm addicted to a caffeine LOADED beverage. As soon as something happens i'll have to cut it off cold turkey....but until that time....i will continue to load up on my Frappaccinos, Vanilla Iced Coffees, Cappaccinos, Lattes, and various and sundry coffee related products. Ode to my coffee....how did i ever live without you?!

Seriously Now?

So today didn't start off too great. I stop by McD's on my way to work to grab an iced coffee to make my day a little brighter (i know how Sean and Hettie understand the importance of the morning coffee). I hand over my debit card t othe man at the window, and he says, ma'am it's been declined. First off, that's just embarrassing no matter how old you are and how many times it has happened, Secondly, I know that I have plenty of money in my checking account. So i call my bank through the automated system, and ok...account balance is fine, available balance.... NEGATIVE $250?!? So now i'm pissed. I know exactly what has happened. We called on Weds. to have our car payments made on this Friday...well they decided to just go ahead and schedule them for Wednesday instead. So i call the bank that made the error and i'm like WTH? She says that she sees no notes where it was supposed to be on Friday, well duh, obviously, or else i wouldn't be calling. So now i'm sitting here with a bank account that is about to go $250 overdrawn, not to mention the 2+ fees i will get at $33 each. So to make a long story, not so long, i call my overdrawn bank and explain the situation to see what we can do and they offered to work with me and not charge any overdraft fees and let everything clear, especially since there is a direct deposit going in tomorrow. Well...it all worked out, but i never got to have my iced coffee...so for that....Screw You Navy Federal Credit Union...Screw You! :::waves fist in the air::: =)

LOL ok so i'm done ranting. Everything is better now and i'm on break at work. This weekend is Thunder Over Louisville and i'm so excited about it! We're going to a friend's house and then all going down the the waterfront for the air show and fireworks, and a few alcoholic beverages i'm sure will follow along. Indiana has the most wonderful law in the whole world....no open container laws. As long as you ain't drivin' the car...you can drink in the car. I just think it's funny...no reason to dispose of your beer before you're done...take it with you! :) So then on Sunday we are going over to the same house for a big ol' fashioned family style breakfast. Hopefully the rain won't be too bad this weekend and we can have some fun. Well i'm out for now!
